If you’ve ever looked at a cruise and thought “That sounds nice, but I don’t really understand how it works” , you’re not alone.
Cruising is one of those things that feels simple on the surface, but once you start looking into it, questions quickly follow:
What’s actually included? How do you choose the right ship? What happens when you get to a port? And, is it really as easy as people say?
That’s exactly why Cruise, Explained exists.
So, what is Cruise, Explained?
Cruise, Explained is a space designed to make cruising clearer.
No jargon. No assumptions. No pressure to book anything.
Just simple, honest explanations of how cruising works, whether you’ve never stepped on a ship before, or you’ve cruised and still feel like there are things no one ever quite explained properly.
Why this exists
There’s a lot of information out there about cruises.
But much of it falls into two categories:
Overly polished sales content
Or scattered advice that assumes you already understand the basics
That leaves a gap, especially if you’re new, returning after a long time, or just want things explained properly.
Cruise, Explained sits in that gap.
What you’ll find here
Each post is designed to answer a specific question, clearly and simply.
Over time, you’ll find topics like:
What’s actually included in a cruise (and what isn’t)
How to choose the right cabin
Understanding drink packages, excursions, and extras
What a typical day on board looks like
The differences between cruise lines and ships
Tips that make your experience smoother from day one
Think of it less like a blog, and more like a growing library you can dip in and out of whenever you need clarity.

Who this is for
Cruise, Explained is for:
First-time cruisers who want things broken down simply
People returning to cruising after years away
Anyone who feels like they should understand it, but doesn’t quite yet
And equally, for experienced cruisers who enjoy seeing things explained in a clearer, more structured way.
A quick note
This isn’t about telling you what to book.
It’s about helping you understand how everything works, so you can make your own decisions with confidence.
What’s next
From here, we’ll start with the basics.
The first few posts will cover the core questions most people have at the beginning, the kind of things that, once understood, make everything else much easier.
