Rome

Rome (Civitavecchia)

Italy, Western Mediterranean

Civitavecchia is the gateway to Rome, one of the world’s most historic and culturally significant cities. While the port itself is functional, reaching Rome is straightforward by train, shuttle, or private transfer. Once in the city, you’ll find an extraordinary collection of ancient sites, grand piazzas, and iconic landmarks. The Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and Vatican City are among the most popular highlights. Because Rome is large and full of attractions, it’s best to choose one or two areas to explore deeply rather than trying to see everything in a single visit. With thoughtful planning, your day in Rome can be calm, enjoyable, and full of memorable moments. Of course there will always be the option to book onto one of the ships many shore excursions.

  • Wear comfortable shoes, Rome involves a lot of walking

  • Book major attractions in advance

  • Leave extra time for the return journey

  • Keep water with you, especially in summer

  • Always remember the ship won't wait for you on your own, if you are on a ships excursion and you are running late back to the ship, it will wait for you.
